Composite Advantage Produces Environmentally Friendly FRP Crane Outrigger Pad

Written by Composite Advantage | Feb 7, 2011

DAYTON, Ohio – (February 17, 2011– A leading manufacturer of fiber composite crane outrigger pads, Composite Advantage LLC (CA) introduces its new FiberRigg BioLite pad to support the industry trend for environmentally friendly products.  Designed and produced with renewable resource materials, CA’s FiberRigg BioLite uses a resin formula made from soy and corn.  The pad’s continuous fiberglass is held together using a polymeric resin called Envirez.  Produced by Ashland Performance Materials, Envirez is the first commercial resin that uses a significant amount of soybean oil and corn-derived ethanol to minimize the amount of petroleum.

The BioLite pad retains the same performance as CA’s standard FiberRigg pad  by using continuous glass fibers that provide maximum strength and stiffness for enhanced safety.  The pad is resistant to chemicals and water degradation.  Stronger, yet lighter for easy transportation and use, FiberRigg BioLite has a non-slip wear surface.  The FRP composite pad can span soft areas while supporting high concentrated loads.  Operators can achieve precise placement and enjoy optimum equipment performance without fear of shifting or tipping.

FiberRigg BioLite retains performance over its life cycle.  The product features embedded nylon strap handles and can be ordered in safety yellow or custom colors, as well as octagon shapes or rectangular with rounded corners.  FiberRigg BioLite is offered in standard sizes and can be easily tailored to customer specifications.  Minimum orders are not required and volume pricing is available.  In addition, the BioLite pad qualifies under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) category for a composite made with renewable and recycled materials and contributes toward Materials & Resource Credits (MR-6) needed for LEED building certification.

CA is a leading manufacturer of very large fiber reinforced composite parts, up to 52 feet, for structurally demanding applications and corrosive environments.  Composite Advantage has developed ground-breaking processing techniques and combined them with efficient manufacturing processes to give customers products that solve technical challenges.  The advanced materials company primarily serves the infrastructure and construction industries, fabricating large, complex parts that incorporate the finishing and assembly details customers need to reduce installation costs.  Composite Advantage products range from vehicle and pedestrian bridges and bridge decks, large structural walls, roofs and panels, to high performance pads and mats.
