TuffSpan™ Fiberglass Purlins & Girts

Composite Beams for High Loads & Long Spans

TuffSpan flanged tube beams are designed to deliver high load and long span capability plus corrosion resistance. Used in roof structures, these beams are called purlins. When used as wall cladding supports, they are called girts

TuffSpan FRP purlins and girts utilize an iso-polyester or vinyl resin system to provide outstanding corrosion protection and is fire retardant with a flame spread rating of 25 or less. The resulting combination of corrosion resistance, non-conductivity and long span capability delivers significant life cycle cost savings.

Why CCG Purlins and Girts?

The flanged tube shape increases 8F7's lateral stability, allowing it to be unbraced while meeting higher loads. Its continuous, quarter-inch-thick wall contributes to easier installation and also permits inverted installation, allowing 8F7 to meet more loads. A flat side wall simplifies the use of plates and clip angles. The inherent corrosion resistance of FRP makes 8F7 beams outstanding for mineral processing, metal processing and fertilizers plants.

8F7™ FRP Purlin and Girt Benefits:
  • Corrosion Resistance — Engineered for Corrosive Applications
  • Fire Retardancy — Tested Flame-Spread Rating of 25 or Less
  • Tubular Shape — Flanged Tube Shape Provides Lateral Stability, Eliminating the Need for Sag Rods or for Lateral Bracing, Plates or Angles on Primary Framing, Even for Long Spans
  • Lightweight — for Easier and Safer Installation
  • Excellent Strength-to-Weight Ratio — Carry Greater Load than I-Beams at 15-30% Less Weight
  • Ready To Install — We can deliver your beams prefabricated for faster installation
  • Manufactured in the USA — ISO 9001:2015-Compliant Facility
Where FRP Purlin and Girt Can Be Used:
  • Building structures
  • Baffle wall columns
  • Support of tank cover decking
  • Secondary framing on pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), FRP or fabricated structural steel buildings in new build or retrofit construction
  • Installed inverted to hang sprinklers or lights
