Fiberglass Wind Fairings Give you the Stability You Need

Designed to stand up to 100 mph wind, we developed our L-shaped FRP wind fairings to stabilize vehicle bridges subject to high winds or severe coastal weather! FRP composite wind fairings reduce construction costs and maintenance. The corrosion resistant fairings protect the steel superstructure from salt spray and moisture in high winds. Fiberglass wind fairings are a lightweight, long lasting and robust addition to bridge systems.

The Design of Composite Wind Fairings

We base our loading requirements for the FRP wind fairings on American Society of Civil Engineering Specification 7-05 which defines minimum loads for buildings and structures. We can design an applicable load for fairing surfaces equipping the L-shaped structures to withstand pressure from 100 mile-per-hour winds. Additional loads can also be designed for an internal walkway. Our prefabricated structures are molded to optimize shape and improve the aerodynamic performance of the bridge span. FRP’s corrosion resistance gives the composite wind fairings a long-life cycle.

Why FRP Wind Fairings are Different:
    • Improves a Bridge Span’s Aerodynamic Performance
    • Eliminates the Potential for Undesirable Dynamic Responses
    • Protects Steel Superstructure from Salt Spray
    • Built with Internal Walkways for Maintenance and Inspection of the Bridge

    Installation of Fiberglass Wind Fairings

Construction crews can use a crane to lift the fiberglass wind fairings into place on each side of the lift. The panels can easily be adjusted to ensure proper matchup with bolt holes. Once positioned, the fairings can be bolted to FRP angles and then bolted to larger steel I-beams that formed the lift span’s exterior.
