Composite Wale System that Improves Fender Load Distribution

FiberWale is a fiber reinforced structural system with a higher stiffness than plastic lumber. This distributes impact loads to more pilings in a fender system. The product was developed for fender geometries that require the wales to be formed to a tight radius. This can be important in narrower channels or areas where many structures are in close proximity. FiberWale improves load distribution and accommodates tighter fits.

FiberWale can be designed with different dimensions and thicknesses to cost-effectively meet performance requirements. The cross-section hat shape allows for easy attachment to pilings. The polyethylene plate provides low friction and high abrasion resistance during impacts. Bolted splices are used to join wale sections.
