FRP Wale Splice and Channels
FRP Splice Plates and Channels have been designed and engineered to replace stainless or galvanized steel for wale splice applications. Our Spliceplate is lightweight, has a lower cost, a faster installation speed,and is easy to drill in the field, reducing the contractor’s labor cost to install the FRP fender system. We use a polyurethane matrix to make the fiber reinforced pultruded wale splice plate. It has been designed to transfer 100% of the bending moment capacity of the industry standard thermoplastic wales.
Engineered and Tested FRP Splice
The engineered splice has been tested and vetted for its intended purpose. We offer 9” wide by 3/4” thick polyurethane splice plates and 1” thick vinyl ester splice plates. It exhibits superior impact and abrasion resistance with exceptional strength. The fiber architecture has been tailored to exhibit near quasi-isotropic values with superior in-plane, flexural and pin-bearing attributes.
The FRP plates are manufactured with an abrasion-resistant polyurethane resin. Performance specifications are available upon request, which use industry-standard ASTMs to regulate the manufacturing as well as the material and performance characteristics of the splice plates. The plates contain a 10-mil polyester surface veil and are coated with a UV-stable powder or paint.
Customization and Fabrication for Wale Splices
We can custom mill the fiber-reinforced polyurethane plate to fit your bolt pattern and dimensional requirements. FRP Splice Plates can be drilled in the field using industry-standard equipment and carbide-tipped bits.
