    FRP Fender Protection Systems protect against barge impact through the use of large diameter pilings. The high strength and lower stiffness of FRP pilings enable the protection system to have high energy absorption and recoverable deflection. This results in better distribution of loads and a more efficient structural system. Fewer pilings mean lower initial cost and the corrosion resistance of FRP means long term cost savings. For this project, 30” diameter pilings were used in lengths up to 100 feet long.
